Mental Health Recovery Centers of Clinton & Warren Counties completes final phase of expansion into Warren County

The Mental Health Recovery Center previously serving Clinton County doubles it service capacity in Warren County by opening 2 new facilities at Fujitec Business Park in Lebanon.

Lebanon, OH, April 22, 2009:  The Mental Health Recovery Centers of Clinton & Warren Counties are celebrating the final phase of its expansion into Warren County by hosting a ribbon-cutting and Open House of their 2 new facilities at the Fujitec Business Park in Lebanon. The site has 2 facilities on the grounds – a one-stop full service psychiatric clinic and a 12-bed Intensive Residential Rehabilitation facility. The event will be held May 7th from 2 pm to 4:30 pm at 975 Fujitec Drive in Lebanon.

“The facilities represent the completion of a 3 year plan to increase the clinical effectiveness and cost efficiency of services to people with severe mental illnesses in Warren County”, says Center Executive Director Phyllis Mitchell. Ms. Mitchell described the planning as a “cost consolidation effort” on behalf of the Mental Health Recovery Services Funding Board by assigning the responsibility of care of the most vulnerable people with mental illness in Warren County to her agency. “All told,” she says, “this equates to some 400 plus Warren County citizens.” “Of course,” she added, “we are adding another 2 to 3 people to our caseloads nearly every week due to the tremendous population growth in Warren County and it’s proximity to Dayton and Cincinnati.”   “The consolidation of services under our one roof provides a more fiscally responsible business delivery model as well as one that provides a “one-stop shop” for the clients attending the clinics.”

Director of Agency Development, Steven Kopecky, explained that the agency previously had almost exclusively done business in Clinton County only. “When the local funding Board asked us to expand into Warren County, we knew we were up to the task.” “The biggest hurdle so far has been to eliminate confusion with our name – “The Mental Health Recovery Center of Clinton/Warren Counties – as we were primarily a Clinton County agency up until 3 years ago.” The name is similar to other social service organizations in the area. “We plan to change our name in the near future to reflect our mission in Warren County. Right now, we just prefer “The Center”. “

Kopecky elaborated on the financial advantage to local taxpayers, “The residential facility alone saves the County over $348 per day as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization at State operated psychiatric hospitals. Currently an average State Hospital length of stay is about 90 days. That translates into over $30,000 in taxpayer savings per client.” “What makes the 12 bed residential facility unique is its emphasis on intense psychiatric rehabilitation to facilitate the development of critical patient skills and supports,” Kopecky added. “As the lead surveyor from the Ohio Department of Mental Health (who was in charge of licensing the facility) stated, “There isn’t another facility like it in the State of Ohio…”.
